Summer comes too close on the heels of spring these days

Chalk it up to global warming if you want. Or perhaps it's just the impact of this year's El Nino (La Nina?) or whatever those mysterious temperature deviations are in the Pacific Ocean. For whatever reason, I swear the springs around here are getting shorter and the summers longer.

Maybe that's just a function of getting old?? Maybe I just notice hot weather more now than I used to, but I HATE the way we start getting high humidity and 80+ degree days in April and May more now than we used to. We've had early in the year tornadoes this year, too -- as in January instead of April or May.

I've remarked on weather stuff before, and I suppose it really doesn't matter much, does it? We really can't do much to change the weather. Our options are sort of limited -- live with it or move. And when you've lived in the same home for almost 30 years, raising your kids there, it's not easy to move. Too much sentiment and too much just plain clutter/junk accumulates over those years.

How's your weather these days? Storms, doom, and gloom slapping things around where you live? You have my deepest sympathies if that's true. And if you're living in some perfect climate where the weather is always balmy and the breezes gentle -- you have my envy! Send some of that weather over here to southwest Missouri, please.

Looking for a good security camera system? Here’s a useful site

I was reading a story in our newspaper this morning about a guy who's sort of a "village pervert," blatantly exposing himself and making lewd comments to kids and teenagers in the small community where he lives. For whatever combination of bizarre legalities, the guy gets away with this behavior despite numerous complaints by parents and kids in the community. In the latest case, a neighbor caught the guy on video with a hidden camera mounted on his (the neighbor's) house. Hopefully this mess will sort itself out and the guy will be put away.

If you've ever had a need for a security camera system in or around your house -- God forbid for such a horrible issue as the one above! -- here's a useful site you might want to check out. The company is "It Planet," and they specialize in discounted high-tech equipment for businesses and individuals. In addition to security cameras, IT Planet carries a nice selection of bar coding equipment and bar code scanners, if you have need of something like that for your business.

Go look around the site. They're a great place for "gadget" lovers as well as those in need of specific high-tech equipment for their business or home. Check it out for yourself.

Do you understand ‘intention-manifestation’ process? Has it worked for you?

There's a philosophy, a lifestyle, a -- I'm not really sure WHAT to call it?? -- thing going around sometimes called the "intention-manifestation" process. I've made sarcastic remarks about it in the past, but I honestly have never explored the whole philosophy/lifestyle to see just how it works.

From my limited understanding, it seems that if you form a very vivid mental image or "intention" of something you want true in your life, a continually remain true to that "intention," having faith in it, in some sort of Inner Power or Higher Power or something -- eventually that "intention" will "manifest" itself in your life.

To me, that's like saying, "No matter how far fetched they may be, I can make my dreams come true."

I'm all for making explicit plans for what I want in my life. I'm all for having a positive attitude as I approach my work, worship, play, and relationships. But it seems to me this goes beyond that level and becomes something like Jiminy Cricket singing "When You Wish Upon a Star" in Disney's "Pinocchio" animation from 1940. (Were I still back in my religious fundamentalism days, I'd probably suspect it was witchcraft or sorcery or something.)

So, those of you out there sold on intention-manifestation, tell me about your experiences. How badly have I misunderstood the process? Has it worked for you? I'd be delighted to have someone who knows about this post a comment here and enlighten us!
