How do you make decisions? Luck? Hard work? Sense of timing?

It's been said that "luck" really never comes without hard work. One common "adage" I've heard a lot regarding online marketing is this one: "I find that the harder I work the luckier I get."

I would add that "luck" or good fortune or success in career and life in general often is a matter of timing. That means, you stay focus and get organized, and with a lot of hard work -- you find your "timing" getting better, regarding work, relationships, and life in general.

I've often found myself struggling with this issue of timing. Sometimes I think I'm the sort of guy who causes rainstorms because I choose to wash my car. Or perhaps like the guy who looks into Outer Banks rentals for a vacation trip during hurricane season?

Well, maybe not that extreme. But I've sometimes said to my wife, when faced with career decisions, that it really doesn't matter which of two options I choose, it'll be the wrong one. In my less cynical moments, of course, I agree with her when she tells me that's unlikely if not impossible.

In the end, I know that hard work and focus are the "keys" to success, not luck or not some capriciousness of the universe. We develop "timing" and find "luck" as we organize ourselves, study, study, study, work hard, and get on with life's daily decisions.

How useful is massage therapy? Anyone out there used it?

I'm completely unfamiliar with massage therapy and know nothing about massage therapy schools, but I've had a couple of friends who insist the benefits of massage are great in their lives. Both friends are far more active than I and insist aches and pains caused by everything from everyday living to heavy-duty exercise just go away with a good massage.

Anybody out there had experience with massage therapy? Good results or bad? Have any of you been trained in massage therapy? Can you give us a brief comment or two about it?

I'm bringing all this up because I apparently injured my right wrist-arm-bicep-shoulder and no matter what OTC painkillers I take regularly, what very gentle stretching exercises I use, or what pain relief lotions/creams I rub in, the pain just won't go away. I suspect it's some sort of repetitive motion injury caused by a combination of bad posture and massive amounts of keyboarding. It could also be a touch of arthritis in the shoulder. Whatever the problem, I'm ready to look into massage as a possible solution -- or at least something to help the pain ease.

Anybody like to comment or suggest something for my problem? Thanks.

How has the economy impacted your summer vacation plans?

For those of you who have the luxury of taking a summer vacation, how has the economy impacted your plans? Or has it?

Have you gotten the brochures out yet to plan some Caribbean villa rentals? Or has the high cost of gasoline, airline tickets, etc., forced you to look closer to home for a cheaper motel rental and an amusement park?

Seriously, I saw a newscast on one of our local TV stations a few weeks back where a woman who comes to our area from out-of-state each summer insists that gas prices could never get high enough to stop her from bringing her family to a nearby lake. Poor woman. I've been to that lake frequently, and I wouldn't drive across town to go there, let alone come something over 500 miles for the privilege! Perhaps that's just me.

And perhaps that's what summer vacation plans are all about: Just you and/or your family deciding to spend whatever it takes to do what you really want to do. That's what America is all about, isn't it? The idea of choices we are allowed to make.

May your economic situation be such that you can make the choices you want to make!
