Speaking of aging — why is everyone else so wrinkled?
While I’m on the subject of getting old (see my last post), I’m compelled to ask this — why is everyone my age so wrinkled? Why am I the only one who shows absolutely no sign of aging as I get older? Am I unknowingly cursed with a “never grow old” visage? A real-life Dorian Gray??
Okay, you get it. I’m really NOT sporting a perpetually young face and body. I really DO look and feel like I’m getting older. (In fact, the old bod wobbles more and feels the aches and pains of aging a little more every day.) Honestly, though, I do have people tell me (kiss ups that they may be!) that I look several years younger than I am. And, honestly again, neither I nor my wife partake of any anti wrinkle treatment lotions or potions.
What started me thinking about all this was a nice evening we spent a week ago tonight visiting with some cousins. Actually, the wife was my wife’s cousin and her husband and I just enjoyed getting acquainted. We had not seen these cousins for just about 40-41 years. (Yes, I really AM as old as I say I am. No, not THAT old, though.) We hadn’t even seen this nice couple once in all those years, nor had we or they seen any photos of each other.
They phoned us when they came into town and we agreed to meet at a local restaurant. When we walked in and saw them, we immediately recognized them; they immediately recognized us. Yet, in their case and ours, all of us were more gray and white than we used to be, where we used to have brown or red hair — without exception all four of us had many more wrinkles and sags were we used to have smooth and tight skin and bodies. (Well, maybe not “tight,” but “tighter” back then.)
Ah, aging. It can be easy or hard. I choose to make it easy, how about you??
Sign of aging? New TV technologies mystify me
I don’t know whether it’s a sign of aging or not — I like to think I’m pretty high-tech savvy regarding computers and the Internet, anyway — but all the new television technologies out there simply mystify me.
I really don’t “get” the differences between plasma TVs and the LCD TVs out there (if people have LCD TVs, can they still hang ‘em on the wall with plasma mounts, or what?), and I couldn’t begin to guess which would be the best TV if I were looking to buy one.
Then there’s HDTV. I know what the term means, “high definition television.” I even understand why it’s supposed to be better for viewers, crisper and sharper images, and all that. What I don’t get is this — if I have an HDTV (you can tell already that I don’t — but if I did …) do I need to pay extra to get the HDTV signal required to enjoy the “HD” part?
I had no problems understanding all that year-or-two fuss about switching over to all-digital television signals. But that’s about the only current or ongoing television technology news that’s made sense to me in the last couple of years.
Am I the only person who wishes I could go into a Big Box electronics-television store and tell the clerks (when and if I’m able to catch one??) what I’m looking for in a new television? Without having to answer a 20-questions quiz first?
Yup. Getting old, that must be it. Harumpf!
Still interested in your comments about diet pills
So, anybody out there know of a weight loss pill that works that you’d like to tell us about? I mean something that you have had personal experience with and REALLY works for you.
I originally asked about diet pills a couple of weeks ago and never got a response. I’m not looking for affiliate links to a website where you’ll make money if someone buys a diet product or anything like that. (I moderate every comment left here before it can be posted to the site and read by our visitors, and I won’t knowingly allow such self-interests.)
I never started this website to preach any gospel of healthy eating, weight loss, or otherwise healthy living. But I have a number of ongoing health issues that are very controllable and not anything really significant — just enough to keep me interested in basic healthy living. So I guess the website is turning from “Take Time for Living” more toward “Take Time for HEALTHY Living.” Which is all right by me.
Any comments about weight loss pills or diet pills? Love to have you share them with all of us!
