Fun ideas popping into my head for a novel project

I’m sure you’ve seen the Kohler faucets television commercials where they present one of the company’s showcase masterpieces to a designer or architect, and challenge him to create a house around the fixture? (I think that’s for Kohler? I could be wrong.)

Whenever I take a notion to launch a new writing project, particularly if it’s a long form fiction work, i.e., a novel, I feel much like that architect/designer guy in the commercial. Usually when I start a writing project like that, I have a vivid scene sort of pop into my head, perhaps a character or two. And I’ve found the more outlandish or “jarring” the scene, the better the idea works for me.

Let me be clear, up front, that I have not yet had a novel actually published. But I remain hopeful, and especially with an idea that’s been cooking away like the faucet would be if it were setting on a shelf glaring down at me. I have such an idea in mind right now. I’ll keep you posted as to its success — or not. But it’s something fun that I’m eager to play around with, twiddle with the old keyboard awhile, and see what comes of it. Hint: It has to do with a carnival of angels.
