Getting tough to find affordable travel, affordable vacations
I'm not sure which is the most distressing -- every-rising gasoline prices or the not-so-gradual dismantling of America's airline travel systems. Okay, I DO know which is the most distressing to most of us, that would be the skyrocketing gas prices.
But for those who travel frequently by air and depend on air travel for their businesses and livelihood, watching the nation's major and minor air carriers take planes out of service and lay off people must really hurt.
My son, who makes a decent living, just remarked yesterday evening that he can't afford to plan a vacation trip by car or plane this year. (Actually, I think his income is decent and he really will make some shorter car trips. But still?)
