Have you resumed life now that the U.S. elections are over?
By Gary | November 12, 2008
I tried very hard not to get so emotionally involved in the recent presidential elections here in the U.S. this time around. I failed.
Now I find myself suffering some odd sort of "political withdrawal" symptoms, I guess: I rush to CNN or pickup a newspaper or go to newspaper websites to read the latest -- only to remember that there is no "latest" news about the elections because they ended last week. Uh, correction: The presidential election is STILL not over here in Missouri. Until 7,000+ "provisional" votes are worked through and put into the count, the state has not yet been declared for either presidential candidate. What a wonderful state to live in! (There was sarcasm in that remark. We secretly would like to live in back in the Pacific Northwest but can't afford it.)
Anyway, now the presidential transition is happening. Unlike past transitions, this one is capturing much more attention. It's being done in the midst of two wars and economic crises worse than any we've seen since the 1930s. May God guide all those seeking to lead our nation, from the present leadership to the new, in such a way that we might all find the best possible way out of these crises!
