Here’s a book by Cafferty to heat up your cold winter days
By Gary | December 4, 2008
Chilly morning in the Ozarks made it hard to climb out from under the old electric blanket today, for sure. (Okay, we don't actually have an electric blanket, but I know many of my neighbors and friends around here must. We just pile on the layers of good old-fashioned quilts and blankets.) But once we were up and moving, my mind was drawn to politics. Namely, I'm reading a book right now I highly recommend to all who want a glimpse at one ornery guy's view of contemporary America. I am really loving this book.
The book is "It's Getting Ugly Out There," by Jack Cafferty. It's sort of a cross between memoir and running political commentary. Jack is a sort of jack-of-all-trades news and political commentary guy on CNN. He was a fixture on their "American Morning Show" for awhile and now mostly stirs things up from Wolf Blitzer's "Situation Room" weekday afternoons.
Be warned in advance: Cafferty pulls no punches. You may love him or hate him -- but you'll always clearly understand where he stands. (The book also contains a fair amount of "conversational profanity" as I like to call it, so be warned about that, too.)
If you care about America, truly care about America, and you want someone who lays out exactly what he thinks our problems are and how we can deal with them, this is an excellent book to warm your winter days (daze) and perk up the old brain cells. It was published in 2007, so contains virtually nothing about the 2008 presidential hoopla or the current economic crisis.
But I highly recommend it. Get a copy as soon as you can and give it a read!
