I’ve never given in to the ‘Chicken Little syndrome’ — but this year??

By Gary | May 12, 2008

We started the year where I live with some serious tornado outbreaks in January, followed by a major ice storm in February, and repeated flooding in March and April. This month we've had both flooding AND more serious tornadoes. Today the weather is warm and wonderful -- with another severe storm/tornado threat setting up for tomorrow.

Of course, in recent days we've all heard about the horrors of cyclone damage and deaths in Myanmar/Burma -- and just last night a major earthquake hit China.

Top all that off with the longest running U.S. presidential campaign in recent history -- at least it SEEMS longer and mind numbingly boring -- and you've got a year to remember already. But it's only May, so who knows what the summer, fall, and next winter hold for us??

I've never given in to the "Sky is Falling, Sky is Falling" mentality. As a student of history, I am aware that past generations in this nation and worldwide have seen their share of disasters and tragedies. I'm even willing to agree that the issue these days may be not that there are more disasters, but that we have better information about the disasters than we did in previous centuries.

Yet I can't help but think that maybe mankind has done something recently to make God REALLY ANGRY ... ?
