‘Madam Vice President’ or ‘Madam Secrtary’? Suggestions for Hillary
I just posted with this idea on another blog of mine, and I'm very, very serious about it: Hillary Clinton should use all of her political "clout" gained from Senate work and from the present presidential campaign to get a guarantee from Obama to be appointed to his Cabinet.
She's far too talented, too experienced, too involved with the needs of the American people to sit back in a sort of semi-ceremonial post like vice president.
Remember (some of you?) the way Hillary worked so hard for health care reform during her husband's first administration? Remember how popular Hillary has been with both leaders and citizens of so many countries?
She would be one of the best Cabinet members in the history of the U.S. presidency, in my opinion. I suggest she corner Obama and get an ironclad promise that he will appoint her either Secretary of State or Secretary of Health and Human Services.
After one or two Obama administrations, she would be in a position of incredible strength to walk right into the White House, trading "Madam Secretary" for "Madam President." Seriously.
Am I the only one thinking along these lines?? I hope not.
