Nothing beautifies the holiday season quite like glorious lights

By Gary | November 24, 2008

I'm a real sucker for Christmas lights and displays. I grew up in a small town in Nebraska in a time that was DECADES before all the fancy video and digital signage that lights up the nights in most cities around Christmas time. So when I rave about holiday lights, you realize I'm more easily impressed than, say, someone who grew up within walking distance of Times Square.

But I vividly recall Christmas shopping was a time that meant all the stores on the town square filled their windows with Christmas toys and Christmas lights. Heck, even when we had little money so could afford to buy very little -- it was worth a walk around the square on a December evening just to dream and to enjoy the beauty of the lights.

I hope, as these economic "hard times" may cut back on your Christmas shopping, that you're able to get out and about to enjoy the beauty of the lights and decorations that dress up the night where YOU live!
