Soaring gas prices take toll on necessary travel
By Gary | June 10, 2008
Are you one of these people who has the luxury of simply driving less, or even driving not at all, as gasoline prices soar? I was. Sort of.
But now I have a "day job" that requires a 10 mile run each way, so I at least have to drive that far. If gas gets over the $5-per-gallon mark my household will feel the pain, as will most folks.
Perhaps the answer is one of those cute little small-engine motor scooters. Or maybe I need to make some kind of senior-citizen rabble rouser statement with used Harleys or something aggressive like that??
Seriously, I've thought about one of those little scooters. Then I take a look at the level of inattention most drivers display in this town, and my spine grows weak thinking about driving a scooter, a Harley, or a bicycle in such numb-brained traffic.
Nah, I'll risk myself to those people if I'm in a car, but not with anything light-weight having only two wheels. Just not worth it, even if gas tops $10 a gallon!
