Tale of an online thief — fantastic software being ripped off by a crook
Not too many weeks ago, I purchased a terrific piece of software that lets those of us who do affiliate marketing with eBay easily and quickly provide our website visitors with live eBay auction links. I don't think I've used the software on this particular website, but you can see it in action, if you wish, at one of my other sites related to collectors and online fun for collectors. (Blatant plug, there. LOL!) The software is called phpBay Pro. It's wonderful software (if you'd like to find out more about it, click here and you can read all about it for yourself), extremely useful, and I've already generated just a few dollars with it.
What REALLY angers me, and the reason I'm writing this about the software, is that some no good lowlife scoundrel has STOLEN the software to sell as his own!!!
The man who created phpBay Pro, Wade Wells, is a wonderful guy who created this terrific piece of software, and sells it at an amazingly low price. Not only that, but Wade personally responds to questions and support issues, just about lightning fast -- something you'll never find Microsoft or Apple doing, by the way -- but I don't mean to get off track here.
I will not name the miserable excuse for a human being who has stolen Wade's code and messed with it to claim it as his own. I am not prepared to face legal ramifications if this guy should read this post and try to cause me any grief. I will tell you that his product and a couple of cheap "ebooks" is currently selling for about FOUR TIMES as much as Wade's software. (I will, however, give you this Squidoo link where someone spills the guy's name, website, and software. Take a look at this, please, and avoid the crook like the plague.)
Wade has tried legal methods of shutting the guy down and he can't really afford anything more from that standpoint right now. He's hired a lawyer and pursued the matter as far as he could.
Be wary of crooks on the Internet, I suppose, is the best advice I can offer you on this matter. Plus, go read the Squidoo discussion and details, then warn all your online friends to avoid the crook.
