What sort of things do you buy online?
One of the ways I try to make a living is by doing affiliate marketing from many of my blogs and websites. Some people have trouble understanding just what “affiliate marketing” is, but it isn’t really hard to understand:
1. I sign on with an online merchant and agree, usually, to accept a small percentage of sales I generate for that merchant.
2. I put up links on my websites — images, text, or both — for the merchant that have a code identifying my website or my account with the merchant.
3. People click on the links at my website, go to the merchant’s site, and buy something.
4. I earn that commission when the person makes a successful purchase via my links.
Not that hard to figure out, really. There are variations of the procedure, products and services vary, etc., but that’s pretty much what affiliate marketing is. There are merchants selling everything from dining room tables and lamps to severe acne treatment creams, and just about every service or product you can imagine in between.
The single biggest “secret” to success at affiliate marketing, of course, is traffic, lots of traffic. If few or no people see the links I put up, then few or none will click on the links and buy from the merchants.
What sorts of products and services do you buy on line? More specifically, what sort of products or services would you like to see available when you come HERE for your online shopping convenience??
My biggest single wish for the new year, as an affiliate marketer, is that lots of targeted traffic will come to my websites and buy through my links. And a belated “happy new year” to you, too!
